Game 7

The Riverview Lady Sharks took on their newest rival, fellow Riverview school, in the Sumner Stingrays. Unfortunately, this one didn't go the way of the Sharks. The Stingrays got on the board early, scoring on the first shot of the game thanks to a break down the left side that led to a kick that went to the right of the Riverview keeper. The Sharks found themselves in a 1-0 hole just 90 seconds in. They settled down after that, but it was still all Sumner on offense, as they dominated in shots on goal. Finally, with just under nine minutes to go in the first half, the score changed again. Unfortunately, it was the Stingrays who scored once again, on another breakaway that crossed up the Shark keeper and got past her outstretched leg. A short time late they added to their lead when the Sharks keeper came out to challenge for the ball, but was too slow in getting to it, resulting in an easy shot to make it a 3-0 game. That would be the score as the halftime whistle blew.

The second half saw the Sharks finally generate some shots on net, but they weren't able to convert on their early chances. Jay went out hurt before the water break, and got the rest of the game off. The final goal of the game came on a penalty kick, thanks to a questionable call in the box. The shot found it's way past the diving keeper of the Sharks, making the score 4-0. The Sharks had one last good look, but the ball deflected off the crossbar of the net, and the game ended with the same 4-0 score.
