Game 6

Jayden and her Riverview Lady Sharks teammates stayed home tonight to take on the Spoto Spartans. Jay got the nod to start at midfield, and she and her teammates began to attack right from the opening whistle. They managed to get their first shot on goal just thirty seconds in, and moments later they kicked the ball into the net (after the goalkeeper had made two saves on other shot attempts, but couldn't corral any of the rebounds). A short time later the Spartans caught a break, when the Sharks keeper came well out of her net to challenge for the ball, but she didn't get there in time and ceded an easy goal to tie the score at 1-1. The Sharks didn't let the misplay get them down, though as they answered back just 90 seconds later, on a kick to the right of the Spoto goalkeeper that she managed to get her hands on, but it still trickled into the net, making it a 2-1 game. Moments before the water break, the Sharks got another shot on goal, and this one was deflected away by the Spartans keeper, but the Sharks got to it first and were able to knock in into the net for a 3-1 score. The Sharks would add on one more before halftime, as they outraced the defensive players to the ball and made a nice cross-net kick that sailed wide of the keeper and in for a 4-1 score. That score would stand heading into halftime.

The second half was all Riverview, as they would continue to add to their lead. It took a bit, thanks to a few saves from Spoto, but the Sharks made it a 5-1 game just before the second water break, on a cross pass that resulted in a shot that beat the Spartans keeper. Jay was subbed out at the water break, so she got to cheer her team on as they tacked on two more goals. The first was a pinball style goal that deflected off a Spoto defender, then the goalkeeper, before finally finding the back of the net to make it a 6-1 game. The final goal was a shot that found it's way through the goalkeepers legs for a 7-1 score. That would be it for the scoring, as the final whistle blew. Way to go Sharks!
