| Drew and his Riverview Ice Sharks teammates took to the ice at
the TGH Ice Plex to face off against the Wiregrass Bulls in
tonight's contest. Things did not get off to a good start for the
Sharks, as the Bulls took advantage of a 3-on-2 breakaway just 22
seconds into the game, grabbing an early 1-0 game after the
Riverview squad failed to score on their first two shots of the
game. The Ice Sharks weren't deterred by the early deficit, however,
as the fired shot after shot on the Wiregrass net. Finally, on their
sixth shot after the Bulls goal, the Ice Sharks found their answer.
With just over eight and a half to play, Riverview was able to grab
a rebound and fire the puck up and over the Wiregrass goaltender to
tie the game at a goal apiece. Things took a turn for the worse for
the Ice Sharks after that, however, as they would allow back to back
goals to the Bulls. The first would come on just their third shot of
the game, on a wrist shot that went in glove side with just over
eight minutes to play. Thirteen seconds later they would score their
third goal of the game on another wrist shot that nearly duplicated
the previous goal, giving them a 3-1 lead. Riverview would get the
next four shots on goal, but weren't able to break through to close
the gap. Wiregrass found the back of the net once again, scoring
with just under three and a half left on another wrist shot, making
it a 4-1 score on just their fifth shot of the game. That score
would hold until the period came to a close, despite the Ice Sharks
outshooting the Bulls by a 14-8 margin. The second period didn't
have much to report on, with just one high sticking penalty being
called on Wiregrass, but the Riverview side was unable to take
advantage of their extra attacker. Wiregrass would also outshoot the
Ice Sharks by a 12-8 margin, narrowing the overall shot deficit for
			the game.
The third period was up and down the ice, but not much to report
on from the score sheet. Wiregrass took a penalty with nine and half
to play, but once again the Riverview power play struggled. The
shots were fairly even between the two teams, 11-8 in favor of
Riverview, but it was Wiregrass who made the most of their
opportunities. They would score the periods only goal with just over
four minutes to play on a nice pass across the crease that resulted
in a shot that went up and over the Riverview goaltender, making it
a 5-1 game. That would be it, as the Ice Sharks would fall for the
first time this season, moving them to 5-1 on the year. |
