Riverview Ice Sharks 1     0 0 1
Jesuit Tigers    1 1 1 0 3

Period Length

Tonight's game between the Riverview Ice Sharks and the Jesuit Tigers marked the final "home" game for Drew and his senior teammates, and as such he and his fellow seniors were honored by the team tonight, but off and on the ice. Off ice, there was a cupcake jersey for the players to enjoy, as well as pictures on display and a goodie bag for the six seniors. On the ice, the rest of the team formed a tunnel coming out onto the ice from the locker room area for the seniors to skate through as they were introduced over the PA system. Each of the players jersey was hung behind the bench with balloons. The players parents were able to greet them from the bench as they skated across the ice with a flower for their mothers. Once all of the seniors had been introduced and had posed for pictures with their parents on the bench, it was game time!

It was finally time for Drew and his Riverview teammates to take the ice, and the starting lineup tonight consisted of all six Ice Sharks seniors. Those seniors managed to get the first two shots on net of the game, and the Ice Sharks got the first four overall, but they weren't able to convert on any of them. It wasn't until there was a little over five minutes to play that either team was able to get on the scoreboard, and unfortunately for the Riverview team it wasn't them who did so. The Jesuit team fired a long shot from just inside the blue line that deflected in off of a Riverview skater and into the net. An unfortunate bounce to be sure, but nonetheless Riverview found themselves down 1-0. A little over a minute later the Tigers would expand their lead, this time with a nice pass from behind the net that was corralled and fired up and over the Ice Sharks goaltender for a 2-0 score. The Ice Sharks didn't give up however, as they finally got on the board with a little over two minutes to play in the period. They took a long shot from between the circles that was deflected into the net, making it a 2-1 game heading into the first intermission.

Despite some back and forth action, there wasn't a lot of results in the second period. With a little under nine minutes to play the Tigers regained their two goal lead on a wrist shot from the right circle that found its way into the back of the Riverview goal. Aside from a Jesuit penalty with six and a half to play, there wasn't much of anything to report on during the remainder of the period. We would head to the final intermission with a 3-1 score.

Riverview absolutely dominated the puck in the third period, but just couldn't solve the Jesuit goaltender. They even had six minutes of power play time to try to cut into their deficit, to no avail. To provide and idea of just how dominant they were this period, they outshot the Jesuit team by a 19-4 margin but had zero to show for it on the scoreboard. When the final whistle blew, they would find themselves on the wrong end of a 3-1 score.
