| Game two, both of the day and of Drew's season, was the second
of two against the Bloomingdale Bulls. Like the first game, the
first period was full of action. Also like the first game, it was
Riverview that opened the scoring, as they snapped a wrister past
the Bloomingdale goalie at the 5:26 mark (ironically less than 20
seconds earlier than the first goal in the opening game of the day).
Unfortunately, that was the end of the Sharks luck in the first
period, as they would take two interference penalties shortly after
scoring the goal. Bloomingdale would take advantage of the second
penalty, tapping in a rebound with just over three minutes remaining
in the period, tying the game at a goal apiece. Riverview wound up
taking a third penalty a short while later, and this one too would
cost them. The Bulls second power-play goal of the game came on a
wrist shot with just under two minutes remaining. Their 2-1 lead
would hold until the end of the period. The second period is where
the action differed from the earlier contest. The pace of play
picked up this period, and it was once again Riverview getting on
the board first, knotting the score at 2-2 on a shot that deflected
in off a skate with just over 5 minutes left in the period.
Unfortunately the Bloomingdale skaters raced down the ice a little
over a minute later on a two on zero breakaway, tapping in a pass
that snuck past the Sharks goalie, giving them a 3-2 lead.
The third periods was once again shortened due to a shortage of
ice time, and this limited the Sharks opportunity to battle back and
tie them game. They held a wide advantage in shots on goal, but
weren't able to find the back of the net, and would fall in the
second contest of the day by a 3-2 score. Next time Ice Sharks! |
