Game #2

Yesterday the Firebirds got off to the hot start start, scoring twice in the opening period. Things didn't go so well today, as it was the Knights who would score twice to open the game. Although the Firebirds weren't playing terribly, they just couldn't quite do enough to score when needed. The first period would end with the Knights ahead by a score of 2-0.

The Knights would come out fast in the second period as well, taking a 3-0 lead just two minutes into the game. A Knights penalty gave the Firebirds a chance, and they took advantage of the extra man to score their first goal of the game, making it a 3-1 score. Their positive momentum was short lived, however, as the Knights would score again three minutes later to reclaim their three goal lead. That would be the score that would stand through the end of the period.

Despite being down, the Firebirds didn't give up. Midway through the period they finally broke through, scoring their second goal of the game to make it a 4-2 game. They closed the gap even further 30 seconds later, making it a 4-3 game. Unfortunately two Firebirds penalties made the rest of the game an uphill climb, and they just couldn't quite reach the top. The game would come to an end with the Firebirds trailing 4-3, making their spring record an even 1-1.
