Scrimmage 5

Drew and his Novi FireCats teammates took to the ice tonight for their fifth and final pre-season scrimmage tonight, travelling to Howell to take on the Livingston Lightning. Unfortunately, it seemed as though although the kids made it to the rink, mentally they weren't focused.

The Lightning got on the board first, scoring twice to take a 2-0 lead. It took a while for the FireCats to find an answer, but they finally did, notching a goal to make it a one goal game heading into the second period.

The FireCats were hoping to carry that late goal momentum with them in their effort to tie the game up, but they weren't able to do so, as the Lightning once again jumped on the scoreboard first (and second, and third). By the time the period was over, the FireCats found themselves down 4 goals with the score 5-1.

The third period was more of the same, as the Lightning added on three more goals, but at least the FireCats managed to sneak the puck past the goalie once again. That lone goal wasn't nearly enough however, as the Lightning cruised to an easy 8-2 victory over the FireCats. On to the regular season!
