May 20th, 2016
On the Friday after the regular season ended, Drew and his
Harn R/O teammates gathered for an end of the year party to celebrate their
season. The kids spent time playing street hockey and swimming in the pool
before we ate dinner, hot dogs and a variety of snacks. Before the evening
ended, the coaches gave a little talk about each of the players - both the
positives for the season and things that they needed to work on for Fall ball.
Drew ended up the year with a .407 batting average, 11 singles, 2 doubles, 15
RBI's, and an on base percentage of .627. He also started 5 games as a pitcher,
but that leads to one of the things that he needs to work on - his pitching
accuracy. He also needs to work on his confidence, both at the plate and in the
field (though I see this more as a pitcher than a first baseman). The final
thing that the coaches thought that Drew needed to improve was his aggressive,
though I am not 100% certain what they meant by this one.
Although the season didn't go as smoothly as planned, it
was a learning experience for all involved. Drew wound up with one of the three
trophies handed out by the coaches - for highest team batting average (the
others were team MVP and most improved). Overall, the team did well and we are
proud of them all. Great job Drew!
