Game 14

Home Up

June 8th, 2015

The last time Samantha and her Reds teammates faced off against the Pirates, the game wasn't much of a contest. Tonight's contest almost started out looking like it was going to be the same type of game, only with the Pirates grabbing an early 5-0 lead as the Reds looked like they hadn't quite arrived at the game yet. Thankfully they slowly started to realize that they were playing baseball and they began chipping away at the lead bit by bit. Although they weren't able to shut the Pirates down, they slowed their attack greatly while they themselves kept playing better and better. The Reds eventually tied the game and took the lead, by four runs at 12-8, but they were unable to add to the lead in their final at-bats. The Pirates came to the plate with three outs to get back in the game, and they did their best to do so by scoring two runs before their comeback effort was halted, giving the Reds a 12-10 victory in their final regular season game of the year. Sam went to the plate to bat three times today, and made good contact in two of the three. She grounded out in her first at-bat, missing a hit by a step. Her second at-bat resulted in a walk before she managed to make it to third base on steals but was stranded there. Sam stroked a nice single to the outfield in her final at bat, and came around to score after stealing 2nd and 3rd bases.
