    Thanks to a "guest" goal keeper (Lauren from last years team, who is playing on the U13 Blue team this season), Samantha finally got to play in the field during today's game. Although her team struggled, she seemed to play pretty well (that isn't to say that she didn't make mistakes, including one that resulted in her getting told to "never do that again" from her coach). She controlled the ball really well today, dribbling through and around defenders like I've never really seen her do before. Unfortunately it was nowhere near enough, as the La Forza girls struggled once again in the first half of a game, surrendering 4 goals without managing to score any themselves. The second half was much closer, as the girls finally managed to sustain some offensive pressure and get some decent shots on goal. None of them got past the goal keeper, meaning that the halftime score held and the girls suffered their second loss of the tournament, this time by a 4-0 score.

    Just a side note - this team and the team from game 2 wound up finishing the tournament in second and first place respectively. They managed to outscore their opponents by a combined score of 44-5. Call me crazy, but I think that each of these teams played down a level or two from where they should have been placed, likely all in the name of capturing the championship at their level. Having that (the tournament champions tag) to display on their website probably goes a long way in recruiting players for next season... of course I could be completely off my rocker too.
