November 5th, 2013
Drew's hockey team played their first game in over a week
tonight, and it seemed as though there was a little bit of rust that needed to
be shaken off at the start. The Storm had a rough first period, allowing 8 goals
in the 12 minutes of action. From there on out things seemed to settle down a
bit, as they finally managed to get some action going in their own offensive
zone and were able to limit the other teams shots. Unfortunately, the Warriors
still managed to outscore the Storm by 3 in each of the final two periods,
resulting in a 14-0 loss. One of these days the kids on this team will find a
way to play well and secure themselves a much deserved victory!
Drew didn't get as much playing time as normal (or at
least it seemed that way to me), and I'm not sure why. He didn't play terribly
today, even getting a breakaway shot on goal, but he definitely needs to skate
harder for the entire time that he is out there. I keep thinking that will come
as he gets more experience, and I have to remind myself that he has only been
playing travel hockey for about 3 months now..
