July 20th, 2013
Tara and the kids met me after work on Saturday, July
20th, for a quick trip to downtown Detroit to show Carlos some of the sights. We
made our way down the famed Woodward Avenue all the way from Pontiac to the
heart of Detroit. We ended up parking in a garage near the Renaissance Center
before making our way towards the Detroit River. We explored a brief stretch of
the Detroit RiverWalk before heading into the "Ren Cen". We entered through the
GM Wintergarden before taking some time to view the new cars on display in the
lobby. From there we headed upstairs to catch the People Mover for a ride to
Greektown, pointing out some of the landmarks to Carlos as we made our way
around the circuit (such as Joe Louis Arena, Comerica Park, and Ford Field,
among other buildings which we are unaware of the names). We even got to see a
movie set being built, which as far as I can find on the never-wrong internet,
was a set for the movie Transformers 4, which is supposed to replicate Hong
Kong. Nice!
