Game 1

Home Up

Samantha has a lot of new teammates this year - aside from her and two other girls from last year's team, the remaining 8 are all new to her. She knows a couple of them from other soccer experiences (one from the Tri-County indoor soccer team she played on a couple of years ago and another from AYSO when they were kindergarteners!), but with all the new faces there are a lot of opportunities to improve how they work together. While nobody really new what to expect from this tournament, the first game got off to a bit of a rough start. While the girls were able to to keep the score close through halftime, the opposing team controlled the action on the field. They were trailing 2-1, with Sam scoring her team's lone goal, so there was a chance for a turnaround in the second half. Unfortunately the play didn't improve on the field, and Sammie got to play goalkeeper for the first time in an outdoor soccer game. While she didn't necessarily play terribly in net, she also was unable to make any spectacular saves. It didn't help that her teammates did little to help her out - letting players walk right in front of the net with ball and things like that. All in all it was a rough way to start the season, as the La Forza girls fell by a score of 6-1.
